A massive Mexican convenience store chain is continuing its aggressive expansion across the Texas border, converting an existing El Paso store to join its growing United States footprint!
State filings reveal plans for a $100,000 commercial renovation project located at 3601 Montana Ave (currently a DK Convenience Store location) in El Paso County.
The project involves the interior conversion of the existing 2,616-square-foot store into a brand-new OXXO location. The scope of work will completely overhaul the current layout, outfitting the space with a realigned retail counter, new mechanical and electrical equipment, a fully compliant ADA restroom, and fresh interior finishes including new flooring, ceilings, lighting, and wall treatments.
If you are unfamiliar with the brand, OXXO is a convenience store giant owned by FEMSA, boasting thousands of locations across Latin America. Over the past year, they have been rapidly expanding their presence in the United States by acquiring and converting existing convenience stores across the Southwest to bring their popular snacks, beverages, and unique neighborhood-specific merchandise to the Texas market.
Construction on the Montana Avenue store conversion is scheduled to kick off very soon on October 26, 2026, targeting a quick two-month turnaround with completion expected just in time for the holidays on December 18, 2026.
