A rapidly expanding Texas sushi brand is making a huge splash in El Paso!
State filings reveal plans for an $800,000 commercial renovation project located at 6101 Gateway Blvd W inside the Bassett Place shopping center.
The project will completely transform three existing retail spaces into a single, sprawling 10,800 square foot restaurant for Umiya. The extensive scope of work will outfit the combined suites with the necessary commercial kitchen infrastructure and expansive dining areas to support their high volume service.
With multiple successful locations across San Antonio and South Texas, Umiya has built a strong following for its fresh, all you can eat sushi and Japanese inspired cuisine. Their extensive menu features a wide variety of sashimi, specialty rolls, and hibachi favorites served in a modern, welcoming atmosphere.
Construction on the major restaurant conversion is scheduled to begin later this year on December 1, 2026, targeting a ten month build out with completion expected by September 30, 2027.
